Re: Dracs Hobbies
I have just been informed by the General manager of Berkeley Castle that the photograph (see below) I submitted has been selected for the 2011 Berkeley Calendar and I have an invitation to the Castle on August 26th when the overall winner will be announced
I took loads of pictures but only one entry [er person was accepted and so I decided to choose this one because it is well framed, with a central focus point (the balcony) and is probably a view few people would consider, and therefore, as I hope, unique!! I love the darkness to light contrast and thinks it works well - luckily so did someone else!!
As with many of my photos, it was not a standard photo but one which had me almost led on the floor

Re: Dracs Hobbies
The Prizegiving was held at Berkeley Castle last night in The Great Hall with prizes given by Charles Berkeley of the Berkeley Family who still live in the castle. In conversation with him after the awards, he told me that the picture I took was showing the sitting room of his parents.
All 12 who were selected for the calendar were awarded an A2 Board picture of their page on the calendar (Mine happens to be May, the same month as my birthday), a family pass to the Castle, a £20 gift voucher for London Camera Exchange, a Winners certificate, a free calendar (which all proceeds go to Cotswold Care Hopsice) and all pictures were on display in the great hall before the awards.
Wine and nibbles were available and a very friendly atmosphere, of mainly "ordinary people", made it a very enjoyable evening.
The pic below, of the presentation, were taken by Emerald (and I am sure she won't mind me saying, they wouldn't win any competition!!!

Yes, but which is actually better... the short stubby one, or the long spindly one?

Re: Dracs Hobbies
Congratulations on the calendar mate and i think you should definitely keep up the brush work. A lot of people think they can Draw/Paint/Photograph but you do have a talent (backed up by other peoples judgment).
